Just Get it Done Quilt Challenge Day 9 and 10
Today we tackled my biggest quilting area. I use thread in my work more than fabric since I do a lot of heavy thread painting
I keep my thread sorted by color, brand, and weight. Most of this is on a 4ft peg board and covered with clear vinyl to keep of the dust. Large ones are in two drawers below this and my coats and clark is on a thread rack on the floor in the same area. I like to reach all my thread when I sew. If I use another machine I take all the colors I plan to use on a tray. My metallics are on a smaller rack a bit out of the way since they are not used as much. I have just recently organized my large cones so they didn’t need worked on. I am just about out of space on my peg board. I rearranged some of the thread and sent my DH out for another dowel rod. I have room for 21 more spools if I moved my small scissors. I also had two dowels that needed replaced. I have to wait to cut the dowel rods for better weather. The threads that will go on the new pegs are on my cabinet waiting to fill in. My bobbins are secured with plastic tubing and sorted by thread type and wt in clear containers
Today we did pins and things. These were still organized from last year. All my bent pins were discarded throughout the year. Only sewing machine needles were added and they get changed often, as I tend to break them or just need replaced for being dull.
I don’t often use clips and have just one small bag hanging on my tool wall. Glue was the problem for me to tackle today. Discarded all the dried out bottles and gluesticks. Organized the front of a deep drawer of my desk under the cutting mat with glue and fabric medium.
Yesterday, I started two 12 by 16 collage ocean scenes from scraps and today I finished a denium journal cover and made two more from scraps.
