Day 4 & 5 Just Get it Done Challenge.
I have had an easy 4 days, but my sewing table is still a disaster. I cleared out the garbage and squatters on Sunday. That included taking down the christmas tree and moving my sewing machine back in place. When we decided to move my studio into the back half of the downstairs and let the cats in the rest of the house, we did not figure on what to do for Christmas. With 5 really active kitties there is no way we could have decorations in the living room. Had a few furniture squatters to remove on day two. I just set them in front of the backdoor to my studio where we come in and out of the house. My husband had to take them out to the garage or he couldn't get through. I cleared out magazines in last years challenge and they all fit nicely in the cubicles that make the legs of my sewing table. I culled seven shelves worth of books from our wall shelving when I move downstairs. The books on the upper shelves will stay, but I can't reach them anyway. Four of the bottom units are my husband’s record collection. It use to take up eight and now house his magazines.
I also put another bookcase where there was wasted space. This gave me storage space, as well as a place for all my art and quilt books. I also gave one shelf on the bottom for my daughter's art notebooks since this area used to be our art and music room.
With my extra time I am mounting quilts on canvas and working on cutting out all the appliqué work for a dollhouse quilt for my granddaughter. I also am laying out my trail of tears quilt in 3 sections since it won't fit on my design wall.
Day 5 - Most of my patterns are original designs that I have organized on my computer or drawn on large paper and stored in boxes under my cutting table. Each box has a list taped to it with what is inside and each pattern is rolled or folded with a label clearly visible. I spent some time putting away pattern’s I was finished with and working the Amy Butler “Dollhouse “pattern as my UFO. I have made lots of changes to the design although it is great as is, but then again I don’t usually use someone elses pattern and Like to make things more complicated. here are a few of the raw edge backgrounds and pockets. I am planning on blanket stitching everything together with 30 wt thread.
